$50 + supplies, pattern included
Supplies needed: worsted weight wool/wool blend yarns only (yardage varies with size), row counter, stitch markers, 24” (or longer) circular needles size 6 and 8 or 9. A second set of the larger size will be required when you get to the sleeves.
Choose to make an adult-size long or short sleeve cardigan or a baby sized one, depending on your budget and time available to knit. Knitting Pure and Simple pattern included. You will use this pattern again and again because once you know how to knit it you can incorporate your own design elements in the future.
Learn all the skills needed to advance in sweater knitting with confidence. This class will teach you how to create a sweater that is the size you want it to be, either more fitted or loose. Learn how to determine gauge, read a pattern, knit increases and decreases, knit two-at-a-time sleeves, pick up stitches for bands and collar and knit buttonholes. You should already know how to do the knit stitch, purl stitch and be comfortable working with circular needles. Be prepared for quick progress and a whole lot of knitting.
In this class we request that you use medium or heavy worsted weight wool or wool-blend yarn. We have many machine washable and handwashable yarn options.
Two gauge swatches are required before the start of class. 20sts x 24 rows. Try one swatch with US8 & one with US9 and determine which fabric is better in class. Knit swatches in stockinette. You can add extra stitches and do a garter stitch edge if you want.
